John Carter is the Director of Parker 3D, based in Scotch Plains, NJ just outside of NYC. In addition, he is an internationally recognized sculptor and avant-garde furniture designer, interiors designer and inventor.
Carter was chosen by the New York Times Magazine as one of "30 people most likely to change culture”. His Art and design work has been widely publicized, including features in New York Times, Art in America, Art News, NBC, FOX, CNN, Asahi Network Japan, Fuji Network Japan, Cosmopolitan Magazine Germany, Playboy, Elle Magazine France, Fast Company and Wall Street Journal to name a few. He has also appeared as a contestant on TLC’s Junkyard Wars.
The New York Times has described his installation art, as "Russian Constructivism meets Virtual Reality" and "Peewees Playhouse meets Bladerunner". The 18,000 square foot installation in Long Island City reinvented the pedestrian mall and has been widely imitated in its recycled sculpture themes, social themes, interactive elements and intricate mosaics. The major critic Robert Rosenblum said "its jaw dropping in its wide ranging invention and themes."
Carter has designed major animated holiday windows and displays for Lord and Taylor, Saks 5th Avenue and Macys in NYC as well as Shinsaegae in Seoul Korea, Kobe Harbor Circus, Japan, and Marshall Fields in Chicago. His designs for Shopping center décor can be seen throughout the US and around the world. His holiday décor also receives high profile publicity in USA Today, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, WGN and customer posted videos all over YouTube.
His Maxi award winning, new brand of computer-controlled light and sound synchronized shows have taken the holiday design community by storm. Last years premier of the "Video Tree" and newly introduced interactive musical programs are only part of what are assuring that Carter is indeed "changing culture."
